Crunchyroll Subscription Price in India (2026): Plans, ₹ Prices & Is It Worth It?

⚡ The short answer
Fan: ₹79/month.
Mega Fan: ₹99/month.
Annual plan: ₹475/year (halved from ₹999 in July 2025).
Free tier: ended 31 December 2025 — a paid plan is now mandatory.
March 2026 global price hike: US-only so far; no India increase reported.
Crunchyroll’s India prices, plain and simple
India gets some of the cheapest Crunchyroll pricing anywhere in the world — and that’s not an accident. Back in July 2022, Crunchyroll moved India from US-dollar billing ($7.99/$9.99 a month) to rupee billing, dropping the monthly plans to ₹79 and ₹99 (Mediabrief, July 2022). Then in July 2025, the annual plan was halved from ₹999 to ₹475/year (Telegraph India, 15 July 2025) — a price that was still being referenced in January 2026 (Mediabrief).
A quick honesty note before the numbers: Crunchyroll’s own pricing page couldn’t be independently verified during our research, so every price below is tied to a dated press report. Prices can change — always confirm on the official premium page before you pay.
| Plan | Monthly | Annual | Streams | Offline viewing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Fan | ₹79/month | — | 1 | No |
| Mega Fan | ₹99/month | ₹475/year* | 4 | Yes |
*The ₹475/year annual price was reported in July 2025 (halved from ₹999) and re-affirmed in January 2026. Press reports don’t always separate Fan-annual vs Mega Fan-annual pricing cleanly — treat the annual figure as the headline yearly deal and check the checkout page for the exact tier.
Fan vs Mega Fan: what’s actually different?
The Fan plan (₹79/month) gets you the core experience: ad-free streaming, the full anime library, simulcast episodes shortly after Japan, and manga access — on one screen at a time (Mediabrief). Mega Fan (₹99/month) adds everything in Fan plus offline downloads, four concurrent streams, and Game Vault access (Telegraph India).
Our take: if you watch alone on one device, Fan at ₹79 is the sweet spot. Mega Fan only makes sense if you share with family/friends (4 streams) or download episodes for commutes. At ₹475/year, the annual plan pays for itself in under five months of Mega Fan monthly — it’s the best value if you’re committing for the year.
The free tier is gone
This one catches people out: Crunchyroll’s free ad-supported tier ended on 31 December 2025, and a paid subscription has been mandatory since January 2026. Free users got an in-app pop-up announcing the cutoff (Outlook Respawn). If you haven’t opened the app in a while and your free access vanished — that’s why.
Did the March 2026 price hike hit India?
In February 2026, Crunchyroll announced a global price increase effective March 4, 2026: in the US, Fan went $7.99 → $9.99, Mega Fan $11.99 → $13.99, and Ultimate Fan $15.99 → $17.99 (GameRant; ComicBook.com). South Africa saw increases too.
India, however, has no reported increase. Post-hike sources still show the Indian prices at ₹79/₹99 monthly and ₹475 annual — including a May 2026 partnership announcement (afaqs). India’s pricing has historically moved on its own track (cuts, not hikes), so the US increase doesn’t automatically apply here. Still, it’s worth re-checking the live pricing page — Crunchyroll doesn’t always announce India changes loudly.
Cheaper ways to get Crunchyroll in India
The headline prices aren’t the only way in. India gets several partner deals:
- Sony LIV add-on — ₹99/month. Crunchyroll launched as an add-on inside Sony LIV in May 2026 (afaqs). There was even a limited ₹49/month promo (May 7–21, 2026, locked for six months) — that window has closed, but it shows partner promos are worth watching for.
- Prime Video Channels add-on. Crunchyroll debuted on Prime Video Channels in June 2024 at ₹79/month (Economic Times). Handy if you already live inside the Prime app.
- Times Prime — 60-day free trial. Times Prime members in India get a 60-day free trial of the Fan Annual plan (valid 11 Feb 2026 – 10 Feb 2027; India residents only; no Crunchyroll subscription in the last 2 years; valid payment details required; auto-renews annually unless cancelled) (Times Prime T&C; Anime News Network).
- Comic Con India Power Pass. Annual Mega Fan at ₹375 instead of ₹475, bundled via District ticketing for Comic Con India attendees (Mediabrief, Jan 2026). Limited to ticket buyers, rolling out across Comic Con cities.
Is there a free trial?
Crunchyroll’s standard free trial is 7 days for new subscribers across premium tiers — that’s the global policy, though India-specific confirmation of the trial is thin (CableTV.com, citing Crunchyroll’s help center). The far better deal, if you have it, is the Times Prime 60-day trial above.
Before you pay: what we couldn’t verify
Being straight with you — a few things we could not confirm on any official page, so don’t treat them as fact: the live prices on crunchyroll.com right now (our figures are the latest dated confirmations); an annual Fan tier at ₹799/year that floats around community forums (no official confirmation); Ultimate Fan pricing for India (India has historically listed only Fan and Mega Fan); and whether UPI/local cards are accepted (third-party guides claim yes, but no official page confirms it).
How much does Crunchyroll cost in India in 2026?
₹79/month for the Fan plan and ₹99/month for the Mega Fan plan; the annual plan is ₹475/year (reported July 2025, re-affirmed January 2026). Verify on the official premium page before paying, as prices can change.
Has Crunchyroll increased its price in India?
India has seen price cuts, not hikes: USD billing dropped to ₹79/₹99 in July 2022, and the annual plan was halved from ₹999 to ₹475 in July 2025. The March 2026 hike (US: Fan $7.99→$9.99) has no reported India impact.
Is there a free trial for Crunchyroll in India?
The standard free trial is 7 days for new subscribers (global policy). Separately, Times Prime members in India get a 60-day free trial of the Fan Annual plan (valid 11 Feb 2026 – 10 Feb 2027; auto-renews unless cancelled).
Is Crunchyroll still free in India?
No. The free ad-supported tier ended on 31 December 2025, and a paid subscription has been mandatory since January 2026.
What is the difference between Fan and Mega Fan in India?
Fan (₹79/month): ad-free streaming, full anime library, simulcasts, manga access, 1 stream. Mega Fan (₹99/month): everything in Fan plus offline viewing, 4 concurrent streams, and Game Vault access.
Can I watch Crunchyroll through Sony LIV or Prime Video in India?
Yes. Crunchyroll is an add-on on Sony LIV at ₹99/month (announced May 2026) and on Prime Video Channels (₹79/month at its June 2024 launch).
Is it worth it at these prices?
At ₹79/month, Crunchyroll is one of the cheapest legal anime subscriptions in India — less than a single movie ticket for the full simulcast library. If you watch even a couple of seasonal shows, the Fan plan pays for itself; the ₹475 annual plan is the best value for year-round viewers.
