⚡ The short answer

Launched: 8 October 2026, with 250+ English digital manga titles in India.
New tier: Ultimate Fan — ₹299/month or ₹999/year (anime + manga, up to 6 devices).
Existing tiers unchanged: Fan ₹79/month, Mega Fan ₹99/month (see our Crunchyroll India pricing guide).
Publishers at launch: J-Novel Club, Square Enix, Yen Press — VIZ Media titles coming later.
Worth it? If you read manga every week, yes — the ₹999 annual plan works out to about ₹83/month. If you only watch anime, stick with Fan.

What just launched in India

On 8 October 2026, Crunchyroll brought its Manga service to India, bundled inside a brand-new Ultimate Fan subscription tier (The Hindu, 8 Oct 2026; Anime News Network, 8 Oct 2026). The launch covers India plus Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, and was announced at Crunchyroll’s Anime Future Forum event in New York.

The headline numbers: 250+ English digital manga titles at launch, from three publishers — J-Novel Club, Square Enix and Yen Press. VIZ Media titles were announced as “coming later”, so don’t expect that catalogue on day one.

This is separate from the anime subscription tiers you may already know. Our Crunchyroll India pricing guide covers the Fan (₹79/month) and Mega Fan (₹99/month) anime plans in detail — this article is about the manga side and the new Ultimate Fan tier, so read them together.

Ultimate Fan value math: is ₹999/year actually good?

Let’s do the honest arithmetic, because the monthly and annual prices tell very different stories.

Our take: the ₹999 annual plan is the only Ultimate Fan price that makes sense. At ₹299/month it’s expensive; at ~₹83/month effective, it’s one of the cheapest legal manga deals in India. Compare that with imported English manga volumes that routinely cost ₹800–1,100 each in Indian bookstores — two volumes a year and the subscription has paid for itself.

Which manga titles are actually available?

Crunchyroll confirmed 250+ titles at launch but hasn’t published a complete public list — the full catalogue lives inside the app. What we do know are the confirmed headline titles and their publishers (The Hindu):

These five are confirmed examples, not the whole library. The remaining 240+ titles come from J-Novel Club, Square Enix and Yen Press catalogues — expect a mix of fantasy, isekai, romance and action series typical of those publishers. Browse the in-app catalogue before subscribing if you have specific must-reads.

What’s missing: VIZ titles and the fine print

The biggest gap at launch: VIZ Media titles are “coming later” (ANN). No date has been announced. If your reading list is dominated by VIZ-published series, it may be worth waiting until that catalogue lands before paying.

A few more honest caveats:

The free legal alternative: MANGA Plus

Before you pay anything, know this: MANGA Plus (Shueisha’s official app) offers a large selection of manga free and legally, including simulpub chapters of currently-running series. If your reading taste runs to mainstream ongoing series, MANGA Plus plus a Fan anime plan (₹79/month) may cover you for less than Ultimate Fan.

Where Ultimate Fan wins: back-catalogue depth from Square Enix and Yen Press, completed series you can binge, and the convenience of one app for anime + manga. Where it loses: anything VIZ publishes (for now), and series available free on MANGA Plus anyway. Check whether your favourites are free-legal first — there’s no point paying for what you can already read.

Who should get Ultimate Fan — and who shouldn’t

Get it if: you read manga weekly; you want anime + manga in one subscription; you can split the 6-device plan with friends or family; you buy even two imported manga volumes a year (the sub is cheaper).

Skip it if: you only watch anime (Fan at ₹79/month is enough — see our pricing guide); your must-reads are VIZ titles (wait for the “coming later” catalogue); you only read what’s free on MANGA Plus; or you’d pay monthly instead of annual (₹299/month is poor value).

And if you’re still deciding how to watch anime itself in India — which platform has what, what’s free, what’s dubbed — our where to watch anime in India guide covers every legal option.

How much does Crunchyroll Manga cost in India?

Crunchyroll Manga is only available through the Ultimate Fan tier: ₹299/month or ₹999/year. The annual plan (about ₹83/month effective) is far better value. Prices confirmed at launch, 8 October 2026 (The Hindu; Anime News Network).

What is the Ultimate Fan tier?

Ultimate Fan is Crunchyroll’s top India tier: ₹299/month or ₹999/year, including the full anime library (all Mega Fan perks), 250+ digital manga titles, and streaming on up to 6 devices. It launched in India on 8 October 2026.

Which manga titles are available on Crunchyroll Manga India?

250+ English digital titles at launch from J-Novel Club, Square Enix and Yen Press. Confirmed headline titles include The Apothecary Diaries, My Dress-Up Darling, Bocchi the Rock!, Bungo Stray Dogs and Delicious in Dungeon. The full list is in-app; VIZ Media titles are coming later.

Are VIZ Media manga available on Crunchyroll India?

Not yet. VIZ Media titles were announced as “coming later” at the 8 October 2026 launch, with no date given. If your reading list depends on VIZ series, consider waiting.

Is Ultimate Fan worth it compared to Fan or Mega Fan?

On the ₹999 annual plan, Ultimate Fan costs just ~₹51/year more than monthly Fan (₹79 × 12 = ₹948) while adding 250+ manga titles and 6 devices — strong value for manga readers. On monthly billing (₹299/month) it’s poor value. Anime-only viewers should stick with Fan or Mega Fan.

Can I share my Ultimate Fan subscription?

Ultimate Fan allows up to 6 devices. Split among six people, the ₹999 annual plan works out to roughly ₹167 per person per year. Keep sharing within your household or close circle per Crunchyroll’s terms.

Is there a free way to read manga legally in India?

Yes — MANGA Plus (Shueisha’s official app) offers many series free and legally, including simulpub chapters. Check whether your favourites are on MANGA Plus before paying for Ultimate Fan.
