What The Blue Road is about

A brutal murder in Shinjuku — a twisted body, cryptic messages written in Korean and Japanese at the crime scene — pulls two very different detectives into one case. Kim Seok of the Seoul Metropolitan Police mobile investigation unit and Inose of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police First Investigation Division must work together when a similar murder surfaces in South Korea, and the trail runs through Hong Kong in a high-speed car chase. Sometimes they cooperate; sometimes they stand off. The trailer's hand-to-hand combat, tense briefings, and one loaded question — Lee Yoon Ok asking, "Don't you want to know who the witness is?" — set up a hardcore crime-investigation drama with, unusually for the genre, a surprising amount of humour between the two leads (Screen Realm). Director Han Jun-hee brings his signature stylish mise-en-scène from D.P. to a story about communication, prejudice, and cooperation across borders.

The series is based on a Korean-Japanese co-produced comic, Peureungil (Reported) — a cross-border story by construction, not just by setting.

Busan showcase

The Blue Road screened in the On Screen section of the Busan International Film Festival (6–15 October 2026) (Reported) — festival placement for a streaming series is a prestige signal, and it is part of why this title carries more weight than a standard Netflix drop. Posters and the teaser followed in late October 2026 (Netflix Korea announced the date on 2 October 2026, per AsianWiki).

Watch in India

Platform: Netflix (subscription required). Date: 20 November 2026, exclusive global premiere (Reported — ZAPZEE, Screen Realm, Newspim, October 2026). India carriage: under Netflix's global launch framing — no separate India-only announcement has been published, so this page labels India availability Reported, not Confirmed. If Netflix India does not list the title on 20 November, this page will correct the same week.

Subtitles: subtitle languages are TBA at the title-page level — check the Netflix India title page on 20 Nov rather than trusting any guide's language list. Drop pattern: whether all 8 episodes land at once or weekly is unconfirmed — another launch-day check.

Hindi dub tracker

AudioStatusWhat to check
Hindi audioTBA — not announcedNetflix India title page → audio menu, on 20 Nov
Tamil / Telugu audioTBA — not announcedSame check, same day
This pageLaunch-week update promisedIf Hindi audio appears, this section updates with the date it was confirmed

A plain warning against assumption: Netflix's big K-titles often get Hindi audio — but "often" is not evidence for this title. No source mentions a Hindi track for The Blue Road. Until the audio menu says otherwise, Hindi dub status is TBA, full stop.

Why trust this guide over other Blue Road pages?

Last checked: 29 October 2026. Sources: ZAPZEE (23 Oct 2026), Screen Realm (26 Oct 2026), Newspim (29 Oct 2026), MyDramaList (Oct 2026), AsianWiki (2 Oct 2026 Netflix Korea announcement), chapterbrief calendar (Oct 2026).

  • The SERP is news-only. ZAPZEE, Dramabeans, Screen Realm and Newspim all report the announcement — teaser, cast, date — and none gives an India watch guide. This page assembles story, cast, Busan, and India status in one place instead of making you read five news posts.
  • Hype is not fact. Some coverage predicts "record-breaking viewership" and "monumental streaming success." Those are predictions. This page does not repeat them as expectations — it reports the date, the cast, and the TBA items, and leaves the verdict to the show.
  • India availability is labelled Reported, not Confirmed — because no separate India announcement exists. A guide that writes "confirmed for India" from a global press release is overstating its source.
  • Hindi dub is TBA, not assumed from Netflix's usual practice. The tracker above is the honest version of this question.
